What is Twine String?

Twine string is similar to ribbon as it can be used to secure gifts or be a decorative feature for arts and crafts. However, rope in bulk has more functional purposes instead of just merely aesthetic ones. For instance, polypropylene rope floats and can be used in the water to designate swimming boundaries while natural and poly twine are necessary parts of shipping supplies to secure packaging. One important function is to ensure that multiple-item packages shipped to the same address arrive as a twine-bound bundle. Bulk cotton twine string is one of the natural-fiber choices for lightweight bundling since it’s highly flexible for tying knots and is absorbent without losing its knotting strength.

What Are the Features of Twine String?

Color

Twine string or twine rolls comes in a variety of colors like yellow, brown, orange, blue, black, and red. Natural brown twine string can be used for gardening purposes while cotton twine string is great for bundling papers. Bulk rolls of rope are also available in multiple natural or poly plies with various tensile strengths and safe load weight ratings for strapping large containers and pallets.

Material

The fibers for twine string include natural cotton, jute, and sisal as well as synthetic polypropylene. Rope in bulk comes in different plies, or braids, and has various tensile strengths. The strongest twine is polypropylene, with a three-ply tensile strength of 1,050 pounds. It’s also rot, mildew, and insect resistant. Natural sisal, which is moisture-resistant, has a three-ply tensile strength of 460 pounds. Both high-strength twines are smooth, so they’re ideal for bundling corrugated packaging neatly. You can use box cutters to cut all twine into the required lengths.

How Can Twine String Be Used?

The heavier bulk rope is ideal for pallet tie-downs as an alternative to poly strapping kits. Like twine string, rope comes in both poly and natural fibers and different plies and diameters, yielding different load strengths. Poly rope includes solid-braided nylon, resistant to abrasion, chemicals, and saltwater, with plenty of flexibility for knotting and maintaining its knots over time. Roll of rope are great for boating and tying inner tubes to the back of boats.

Also available are polypropylene hollow and twisted-braided ropes, resistant to corrosion, gasoline, many chemicals, and water. Each is flexible while still keeping rigidity, so while they accommodate containers of different shapes, they won’t kink or bend as a tiedown. Another synthetic fiber is a twisted polyester rope, which is resistant to UV rays, moisture, and weather, and is ideal for tie-downs stored outdoors.
